THE GUIDANCE OF SCRIPTURE United Methodist Christians hold the Bible as God's inspired and essential witness to God's redeeming work toward God's creation. THE ROLE OF THE CHURCH The Bible describes the church as “the body of Christ;” that is, the visible and communal expression of Jesus in the world. CONCERN FOR SOCIETY Jesus is God's indispensable gift not only to individuals, but to all levels and expressions of human community. Marriages, families, neighborhoods, corporations, cities, states, governments and nations, and the whole earth need Jesus as much as any individual does. TOLERANCE FOR DIVERSITY The God of scripture is far larger than any one person or personal viewpoint. As long as our different beliefs are rooted in the essentials of the Christian faith and are consistent with the Scriptures, then these differences will enhance our understanding of God and challenge us to grow in Christ.

My beloved mother Arlene R. Allison age 68 entered into rest on Wednesday March 9th 2016 in San Antonio Texas. Arlene was born December 9th 1948 in San Antonio Texas to Wilson and Vira Hirsch. She was married and preceded in death by husbands Stephen Lee Schatz and David Bruce Allison also preceded in death by granddaughter Ashley Marie Vargas. She was a beloved and devoted English teacher at Brentwood middle school for over 30 years. Where she loved teaching English to countless 6th,7th and 8th graders. She was a very active and devoted member of her church at Divine Grace UMC. Where she loved to sing and praise our Lord. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. Arlene is survived by daughter Catherine Vargas. Grandchildren Matthew,Stephen,Cassandra and Brandon Vargas. Son-in- law Raul Vargas. Brothers and sisters in-law, Michel,Rick,Patricia,Brian,Patrick,Cathy,Barbara and Evelyn Allison. As well as countless nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19 at 10:00am Divine Grace (Shepherd's Gate) UMC located at 211 North Park Avenue San Antonio Texas 78204 with potluck reception to follow at reception hall located next to the church. In lieu of Flowers we are asking donations be made to Divine Grace UMC (Shepherd's Gate UMC). Thank You! Submitted for posting by Arlene's daughter.

❤️🙏🏻Prayers for Arlene Allison (one of our church members) who has entered hospice in the last few days. Prayers also for Rev Aaron Gonzalez's Mom who entered hospice yesterday. We lift up our hands and hearts to you, O God, for our sisters in Christ and their loving families.

(Sisterhood of Unconditional Love), J-Walkers (Youth walking with Jesus), M & Ms (Mini-messengers ministry for kids K-5th) and even the men have a great small group! We hope to see you there!
